WENDELIN\u2019S CATHOLIC PARISH<\/strong><br><strong>LUXEMBURG, MN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><u>BY-LAWS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article I.&nbsp; Name<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The name of the society shall be St. Anne\u2019s Christian Women\/CCW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article II.&nbsp; Patroness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The patroness of the society shall be our Blessed Mother under the title of our Lady of Sorrows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article III.&nbsp; Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Spiritual enrichment that brings members and their families closer to the Lord.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Service to our parish and community.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Support for one another through socialization and Christian fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article IV.&nbsp; Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Hold regular meetings that allow time for prayer, business, enrichment and socialization.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Provide leadership and help to the parish and community whenever needed for events such as receptions, open houses, etc.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Sponsor an annual fundraiser each year.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4.\u00a0 Officers try to attend (and encourage others to attend) deanery meetings and annual DCCW Convention and report back to membership on these sessions.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5.\u00a0 Pay expenses as approved by the executive council for members to attend the DCW Convention (registration, travel, meals).\u00a0 Also, may have to give a donation to the deanery to help pay expenses for someone to attend the National Council of Catholic Women Convention.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.\u00a0 Lead the rosary before weekend Masses during May and October.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 7.\u00a0 Each member shall pray daily the \u201cPrayer for the Children.\u201d<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8.\u00a0 Pray the rosary at wake and\/or prior to the funeral Mass for deceased members\/parishioners as requested by those arranging the funeral.\u00a0 If requested, Christian Women will serve as honorary pall bearers.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9.\u00a0 Members encouraged to openness to serve on committees and\/or hold office.<br>\u00a0\u00a0 10.\u00a0 Financially support worthy parish, community and other needs as funds allow.\u00a0 In the event a financial request is\u00a0made and there is not enough time for membership approval, the executive council will determine amount of donation not to exceed $400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article V.&nbsp; Membership<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Membership is open to all area women whether single, married or widowed.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 New members and transfers are received annually during the May meeting at a special Mass or ceremony as decided by the membership.\u00a0 Fifty (50) year members will also be recognized at this event and will receive a life-time certificate.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 New members and transfers will receive a medal, confraternity booklet and a copy of the by-laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article VI.&nbsp; Dues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Annual dues are $5.00 (five dollars) per year.\u00a0 Dues amount is determined by the membership.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Dues are payable in March via designated envelope in parish packet.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Fifty (50) year members will become life-time members and will not be asked to pay dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article VII.&nbsp; Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the months of April, May, September, October, November, and December, subject to change by the officers.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Special meetings may be called by officers when necessary.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Voting at any meeting shall be confined to those members present.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4.\u00a0 Voting issues require a simple majority vote of those present to pass.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5.\u00a0 Meetings are conducted by Parliamentary Procedure using the \u201cRoberts\u2019 Rules of Order\u201d.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.\u00a0 A quorum of ten (10) members is required for an official meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article VIII.&nbsp; Officers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 The spiritual director is the pastor of St. Wendelin\u2019s Catholic Parish.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Officers shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article IX.&nbsp; Duties of Officers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong><u>President<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 First and foremost, encourage spiritual growth in membership.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Schedule and preside at all meetings.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Plan meetings with programs that support our objectives of spirituality, service and support.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 4.\u00a0 Provide leadership for parish\/community events as needed (i.e., annual breakfast).<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5.\u00a0 Try to attend the annual DCCW Convention, spring and fall deanery meetings and report back to the membership on them.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 6.\u00a0 Appoint a committee to plan the annual Christmas party in December.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 7.\u00a0 When a funeral home contacts the President regarding the death of one of our members and requests our participation in the funeral (i.e., Honorary Pallbearers, praying the rosary, etc.), the President will call members to assist in this request.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8.\u00a0 Throughout the year encourage the recruitment of new members.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 9.\u00a0 Honor fifty (50) year members with a certificate at May meetings.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10.\u00a0 Our meetings should be open to all standing commissions.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a011.\u00a0 All checks to be signed by Treasurer or President.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong><u>Vice-President<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Shall, in the absence of the president, assume the duties of the president.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Shall help and support the president in all organizational duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <u>Secretary<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Shall take and keep the minutes of all meetings so as to provide an accurate written record and history of our society.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Shall be responsible to have the minutes published in the parish newsletter.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Shall send welcome note to new parish members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong><u>Treasurer<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Shall be the custodian of all monies of the society which shall be deposited in a designated bank.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 All checks to be signed by Treasurer or President.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 Shall keep an up-to-date list of all members.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 4.\u00a0 Shall collect and keep record of all payment of dues.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5.\u00a0 Shall pay the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) dues (an assessment of the Bishop\u2019s Office) upon\u00a0receipt of the billing.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 6.\u00a0 Each December, will order fourteen (14) Masses.\u00a0 Twelve for the intention of the members and a Mass on the Feast of Anne (July 26<sup>th<\/sup>) and a Mass on the Immaculate Conception (December 8<sup>th<\/sup>).\u00a0 These Masses can be said outside of our parish.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 7.\u00a0 Upon the death of a member, shall order three (3) Masses to be read for the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each officer shall, after her term, turn over to her successor all books, papers and other property pertaining to her office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article X.&nbsp; Elections and Installation of Officers, Terms, Vacancies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Any society members are eligible to hold office.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 Officers are elected at the May meeting in even numbered years.\u00a0 Installation will take place at that meeting\/Mass or ceremony designed for induction.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 All officers will serve a two (2) year term beginning immediately after election and installation.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4.\u00a0 In May of even numbered years, officer nominations from the floor shall be presented.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5.\u00a0 Voting shall be by voice vote when only one (1) candidate; if more than one (1) candidate, by written ballot. \u00a0Ballot count and report to be done by two (2) people at the meeting other than the officers.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.\u00a0 If the President is no longer able to complete her term, the Vice-President shall take charge until the officers find a replacement for the President.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 7.\u00a0 If offices other than the President become vacant, the President shall seek a member to finish the term of the exiting officer.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8.\u00a0 Resignations must be in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article XI.&nbsp; Commissions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0 The society shall have the following standing commissions which correspond to those on the deanery and diocesan levels of the Council of Catholic Women:<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a.\u00a0 Spirituality (includes Church and Legislative Reports)<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b.\u00a0 Leadership (includes Organization Reports)<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 c.\u00a0 Service (includes Family, Community, Rural and International Reports)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article XII.&nbsp; Amendments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 1.&nbsp; These by-laws may be amended by a 2\/3 vote of all members present provided such amendments have been submitted to the membership in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article XIII.&nbsp;
